Sendero’s accessible maps and GPS software narrates the map information around you. With accessible maps and GPS you will have access to street names along with millions of points of interest, enabling you to find anything such as restaurants, hotels and hospitals. You can even add your own custom entries such as your home, your work, or a friend's home. Creating vehicle or pedestrian routes is easy and you can even share them with other GPS users.
The winning bidder will choose from one of the following accessible maps or GPS software programs:
Choice 1: Sendero Maps and GPS for the PC. Estimated value: $500
Choice 2: Sense Nav for the HIMS Braille and Voice Sense products (EZ version). Estimated value: $500
Choice 3: Sense Nav for the HIMS Braille and Voice Sense products (Full Version). Estimated Value $1000
Choice 4: Sendero GPS for the HumanWare Apex and BrailleNote products. Estimated value: $600
No GPS hardware or memory cards included. Must have your own host device (i.e. PC, Braille Sense or BrailleNote).
Item Special Note
The Sendero founders began developing accessible GPS in 1993 and their software is now at the core of most accessible GPS systems.
- At intersections, the street name and your direction of travel are announced.
- Intersections are described (e.g. four-way) with the clock face orientation of the streets.
- There are two choices for POI data (Foursquare and TomTom).
- Directions are configured appropriately for Pedestrian and Vehicle routes, including heads-up announcements for approaching turns, turn now, continue straight and upcoming turns.
- If one wanders off the route, it's automatically recalculated and updated turn information is announced.
- Point your phone in a given direction to hear what is nearby with the LookAround Wand.
- Nearby Points of interest and intersections are automatically announced.
