Item Description

Emily Wood beautifully captured this image from a photo of her husband's great grandfather with his team, the Red Hill Sluggers. Red Hill, Arkansas is outside Chidester, which is outside Camden.  

All the home plates are wooden with a one inch edge, and are regulation size home plates.  

Item Special Note

 

Emily Wood studied art at Texas Christian University, the University of Reading, England, and Ouachita Baptist University from which she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2004 with a BA in Graphic Design.  In 2011, Emily completed a Master of Arts degree in Painting at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.  She lived and worked in New York City and studied painting at the Art Students’ League of New York. Emily taught art in the Little Rock School District and is currently the Chair of the Painting and Drawing Department and an instructor at the Arkansas Arts Center Museum School.  

Emily’s work has been accepted into and won awards in juried exhibitions throughout the South and can be found in public and private collections across the United States. Her work has been chosen for the Arkansas Arts Center’s Delta Exhibition for the past three years as well as the Arkansas Arts Council’s Small Works on Paper statewide touring exhibition for the past two years. Recently, her work was awarded “Best of Show” by Juror David Houston at the South Arkansas Arts Center’s National Juried Art Competition. She was also named a “Women to Watch” in 2011 by the Arkansas Committee for the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
