Item Description

Laura Raborn painted this after a Sunday afternoon visit to the Boys and Girls Club near Lamar Porter Field.  She captured the charm of the pickup game as perfectly as the little girl's stance.

Laura Raborn’s paintings have been exhibited throughout Arkansas and are in private collections across the United States. Her work has earned numerous awards including the Wilma and Jack Diner Purchase Award at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the Juror Award at the Irene Rosenzweig Biennial Juried Exhibition. She has a thriving commission business painting commercial, residential and historic structures, one of which was presented to the Governor of Arkansas, Mike Beebe. 

 

After receiving a B.A. from Rollins College, Laura worked in marketing for six years while taking evening classes at the Arkansas Arts Center. She then enrolled in the Masters of Art program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she is currently in her final semester. During the summer of 2014, she has been invited to participate in two artist residencies in Italy where she plans to study the modern figure in historic settings.
