About This Artist: Anastasia O’Melveny is a self-taught artist living and working in Massachusetts. She works in a multitude of mediums to express spiritual themes and the beauty of the natural world. Among her many modes of creative expression are painting, photography, mixed media, music, poetry and creative writing. She was not diagnosed at until age 56 as being on the Autism/Aspergers Syndrome spectrum. As a child, her learning disabilities precluded a higher education. But, thankfully over the last four years she has had the opportunity to study at Boston University's College of Fine Arts and School of Theology. She is active at AANE and has been associated with the AANE Artist Collaborative for several years.
About the AANE Artist's Collaborative: The AANE Artist's Collaborative consists of artists with Asperger Syndrome (AS) and related autism spectrum profiles. The collaborative creates an amazing opportunity for these artists to showcase and sell their work on a regular basis throughout the year. The Artist's Collaborative invites people to not only appreciate the mind-blowing artistic abilities of our members, but to also take advantage of the strikingly unique chance to see the world through their artwork, and therefore their eyes. Adults with AS often struggle with an inhibited ability to communicate verbally, but through their artwork, our artists are tapping into their rare, ingrained ability to communicate visually.
