Item Description
Camp Akeela, a summer camp specifically designed for children and teens (grades three through ten) with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is offering a one-week trial family camp experience for children who want to try out their exciting Vermont camp but need the initial comfort and support from a family member. At Akeela Family Camp, parents and children bond as a family and meet new friends, all while participating in a wide variety of camp activities. The program includes all-family events as well as adult-only and child-only options. While participation is always encouraged and the spirit of camp is hard to resist, families have the flexibility to be as active or as relaxed as they choose. Included in this package is a fun Camp Akeela backpack for all your camper’s needs and a book written by Carson and Judith Graves that will help parents navigate through the special education process. The winning bidder will also receive a one hour riding lesson at Apple Brook Farm in Wendell, MA and a half hour riding lesson at Lil’ Folk Farm in Holliston, MA; both barns specialize in working with children with ASD. Should your child wish to continue riding lessons, they’ll have experience with multiple barns, enabling them to choose the best personal fit!
Item Special Note
At least one parent/guardian must join in the fun and attend Family Camp with the child! Adults and any siblings in attendance will be charged at the regular Family Camp tuition rates ($825 per adult and $675 per child, ages 3 – 18). Tuition is pending availability- if the 2014 season is full at the time of purchase, the winning bidder’s credit will be applied to 2015. Sorry, veteran Akeela families: this offer is available to first-time campers only! For details, see www.campakeela.com
