Item Description

The high bidder will receive a gift certificate good for golf for 2 with cart at The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon.

If you have not played The Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon in a while, you will want to add it back into your Bay Area rotation.  Located 30 miles east of downtown San Francisco in San Ramon, California this semi-private facility has always been known its superior course conditions, sloped fairways, and heavily landscaped hillsides creating a unique golfing experience, since its debut in 1999.

But you might not be aware in the spring of 2013, under the management of KemperSports, The Bridges Golf Club completed an extensive bunker renovation project geared to improve daily maintenance, and to enhance the playability and overall strategy of the course.

In an effort to improve maintenance, each bunker was completely rebuilt and outfitted with new drainage, a state of the art bunker liner and new sand. Next, playability was enhanced by re-crafting the bunkers to ensure that the depth of the bunker was appropriate for the shot being played, and reshaping the bunkers for easier access. Finally, a handful of bunkers were moved or shifted in order to improve the strategy of a particular hole and also to guard specific hole-locations. Overall more than two dozen bunkers were removed and numerous slopes were softened across the 18-hole championship course.

The renovation was led by Bay Area Golf Architect, Jay Blasi. Prior to starting his own firm, Jay Blasi Design, Blasi spent 11 years at Robert Trent Jones II where he played a major role in the design of Chambers Bay, site of the 2015 U.S. Open Championship.

Golfers tend to agree with the results:

“As I said, I'm a low handicap golfer and have always loved the challenge at Bridges. Last year when I started seeing bunkers being filled in (especially on 14) I thought the teeth of the course would be gone. On the day I played, I had a great talk with course assistant, Mike Scott, who was very informative in explaining that the course renovations were designed to soften the course for the high handicappers but would still be appealing to better golfers. He was right and I enjoyed seeing new bunkers in different places and how other bunker complexes were removed.” - MEMBER

In addition to the bunker renovation, the Bridges also recently opened the only TaylorMade Performance Lab in Northern California adjacent to their stadium-lighted driving range and Practice Center.  While TMPL utilizes the same Motion Analysis Technology by TaylorMade (MAT-T) featured at the TaylorMade Kingdom in Carlsbad, The Kingdom experience is not available to the general public. Any golfer that visits the TaylorMade Performance Lab at The Bridges Golf Club, is going to leave with a complete understanding of why their golf ball does what it does which may be reason enough to add The Bridges back into your Bay Area rotation.
