Visit Tlaquepaque, a highly fashionable suburb less than 10 kilometers from Guadalajara, with a hip, up market colonial center with a character and style of its own. The colonial-style streets are lined with shops and restaurants. Explore Lake Chapala, Mexico's largest freshwater lake, rated by National Geographic Society as the "Second Best Climate in the World."

Just 30 minutes from Guadalajara, this pre-colonial village in Western Mexico's Sierra Madre mountains make for unparalleled living in a quaint Mexican village. Soak up local color and visit the Museo Nacional de Tequila or take the Tequila Express train. There is a reason this train is called La Leyenda (The Legend). One of the last remaining rail lines in México, the Tequila Express takes you from Guadalajara right into Amatitán and Casa Herradura in the heart of tequila country.

From previous lucky winners:

The Guadalajara package was, simply put, the trip of a lifetime. The 200 year-old hacienda on the Casa Herradura grounds was stunning. The kids commented that the garden looked more like Balboa Park than a backyard. Beyond being a beautiful setting to house all of us (we went with 2 other TCS families), the location gave us a strong sense of the history of both Herradura and our host family. Similarly, Guadalajara and the surrounding region are wonderful, in terms of terrain, weather, and culture. What made this trip really special is that we weren't simply left to our own devices. Instead, the hacienda was fully staffed, making sure we were comfortable and exposing us to fantastic regional cuisine. Furthermore, a team of people took us around for sightseeing and exploring. We experienced so much! Most importantly, the host family wanted to ensure that we were treated like family, and that's just how we felt the entire time there. As much as we miss the amazing Hacienda and the local culture, it is the dozen or so hosts who we became very close to that we miss the most. The kids are lobbying us hard to bid on the trip again, and believe me we are tempted, but we want to make sure some other family gets to experience this amazing trip. A sincere thank you to the wonderful host family.
