Item Description
Long Island is a lovely vacation spot any time of the year. It’s particularly lovely in the fall and early spring, before the beach crowds get too big. It’s also a marvelous place to learn how to bring sustainable cooking into your home.
Join Peter Berley, Master Chef, to learn how to make delicious, garden-to-table meals in your own home. Chef Berley, creations have been featured on the Food Network’s Conscious Cuisine series, will work with you on how to plan, cook, and serve a lovely, sumptuous meal using sustainable, locally-grown crops. On day one, you’ll learn to make a fabulous dinner and how to choose the proper wine with which to accompany it. On day two, you’ll learn to make an equally fabulous lunch. The cooking lessons take place in My North Fork Kitchen on the picturesque North Fork of Long Island, near South Jamesport on Flanders Bay. It’s a lesson you can eat – not just once, but over and over again.
Between cooking lessons, you can explore the North Fork’s rolling vineyards (many of which are sustainable) and visit the pristine beaches. At night, your accommodations are secured. The magnificent Aldrich House – an antique Greek Revival home with a brick fireplace, woodwork throughout, and hand-blown crown glass in the windows – beckons you to a restful evening and a delicious breakfast in the morning.
