He’s the author of several books, including The Shortstop’s Son and The Artificial Southerner. He was a page one columnist for the Shreveport Journal in the 1980s, an investigative reporter for Phoenix New Times and executive editor of the defunct Little Rock alternative weekly Spectrum.
He’s played professional baseball and rhythm guitar in rock bands. In the past 18 years he’s won more than 30 state, regional and national awards for his columns and criticism.
