Item Description

You may remember the fun reports you received from your Student Geometer last winter, the winter before, or last Spring while building the Schepanus Chandelier or the Sche-Pinski Tetrahedron with the visiting Geometric artist Hans Schepker. This winter, students created a collaborative stained glass sculpture called, The Schepanus Chandelier.  This artwork will be auctioned to the highest bidder this weekend (reserve price). A featured item in the Spring Parents Weekend Auction, this glass design was created by the 2013-14 Culver Academies' semester one Geometry students in hands-on workshop led by Geometric Glass artist Hans Schepker. The handcrafted chandelier is based on the geometric object called the Campanus sphere, first described in the 13th century by the papal chaplain and astronomer Campanus, which is constructed entirely of polygons. This stunning chandelier will provide warm, dappled light and inspire an artistic atmosphere in any room! This is a structurally sound, hand-soldered sculpture with a Diameter 28" and a height of 23". A grant funds the Winter workshop every year; the purchase of this item will fund a second Spring Workshop for the Semester 2 students. The Shepanus Chandelier item has a reserve price of $3500, which will fund a Spring Geometric Glass Sculpture Workshop.
