Item Description
Visit 3 great restaurants by Chef Issac Becker.
Tucked in the midst of the arty, eclectic Minneapolis restaurant districts are three jewel restaurants that redefine the very essence of unforgettable fine dining experiences. All have become favorites haunt of area chefs, foodies and entertainers.
And all have the distinct signatures of executive chef/owner Isaac Becker and his wife, Nancy St. Pierre.
Becker, who before opening his first restaurant, 112 Eatery, cut his culinary chops at some of the Twin Cities’ most well-respected restaurants, including Café/Bar Lurcat, Campiello, D’Amico Cucina and the former Lowry’s.
Becker is a top “graduate” of the informal, local “chefs’ academy” known as D’Amico and Partners; the restaurant management company that has helped nurture and develop so many of the Midwest ’s best culinary talents. Becker credits D’Amico’s acclaimed Executive Chef Jay Sparks for being a significant influence on his current skill and success as a chef.
And the restaurants are....
- 112 eatery...this is fine dining without the formality. It’s great food, well prepared without extravagant prices and pretentious surroundings. No wonder that since opening in January 2005 it has quickly become the Twin Cities’ “fine dining destination for industry insiders.”
- BURCH Steak Pizza...Star Tribune "four-star" ...a remarkable range of options...." "[Steaks] so tender that the restaurant’s sleek, French-made knives slide through the supple meat with barely any pressure.""Becker and Del Prado defy the genre’s expectations at every turn.""...a delectable series of dumplings." "...pierogi of the gods....""Truly excellent pizza." "...even the most basic Margherita sings with uncompromised promise.""A superb — and superbly managed — staff.""It’s one of those where-have-you-been-all-my-life experiences."
- Bar La Grassa
James Beard Best Chef Isaac Becker and Nancy St. Pierre followed up 112 Eatery with this fantastically popular restaurant in the Warehouse District serving fantastic cured meats, pastas, and small plates. Go ahead, survey the menu’s seven sections, but don’t miss signatures like the soft eggs and lobster bruschetta, gnocchi with cauliflower and orange, and the silk handkerchiefs with basil pesto.
