Item Description
Item includes 4 ticket vouchers for the exhibition "Samurai: Armor from the Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection," on view at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth through August 31; and the accompanying book "Art of Armor."
This extraordinary exhibition showcases more than 140 works from the Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection in Dallas – one of the largest and most important collections of its kind in the world – including suits of armor, helmets, masks, horse armor, and weaponry. The objects date from the 12th to the 19th century, with a particularly strong focus on Edo-period armor.
Lavishly illustrated in full color, the book offers an exciting look into the world of the samurai warrior, with essays by prominent scholars on such topics as the development of the samurai helmet, castle architecture, women in samurai culture, and Japanese horse armor. Includes an extensive catalogue of the collection, concentrating on 120 significant works.
