100s KNIGHT PRIDE

MRS. JANE CONNORS IS RETIRING & HAS DONATED HER "BOOK OF PRAYERS".

She calls them... Prayers from the classroom (1990-2014), and they are a collection of prayers and reflections from the classroom over the past years.

From Mrs. Connors: I offer the journal as a Thank You to the parents for entrusting your children to us on the journey of faith. The journal of reflection is the work of the students and an insight into the faith of young people. In reading the prayers I invite you into the experience of the class, the sharing of faith and its expression in prayer.

An excerpt:  The Rubber Band Ball

Years ago – ’99 we took a wadded up piece of paper and wrapped a rubber band around it, then another, and another and another…

Every time we wanted to pray for something special, we’d wrap a rubber band and toss the ball to God. At times, it was a big thank you, or a heartfelt concern for someone sick, for the young men and women in the Armed Forces, for our own sports teams. Then it was 9/11 2001 – and many more rubber bands and tosses to God.

Over the years the ball grew from a golf ball to a tennis ball. We tossed our prayers to God and in letting go and letting God, we felt confident in his care. He always caught the ball in our prayers. And if we missed it on the toss back, we noticed the ball bounced. God gave us the ability to bounce back from whatever fear or concern we gave him.

We played catch with the ball – teacher to student to teacher to student. As each student caught the ball, he spoke his prayer and we “banded” together and gave all our prayers to God.

This is truly a treasure for any lucky person who gets to call this their own. Mrs. Connors is an exceptional mentor and person. She has touched so many student's lives in such a positive way.  Her patience, understanding, kindness and love will go unmatched. She will be missed at ICCP by her peers, her students and their familys.

ENJOY RETIRMENT AND THANK YOU FOR THIS PRICESS GIFT.
