Item Description

Micah Grant Instructor

Micah is 31 years old and has been playing the guitar since he was 9 when he decided to take guitar lessons at the local music shop. He was inspired to pick up the guitar because of his exposure to classic rock records played by his parents.

As a high schooler in Laguna Beach, Micah joined his first band, an alternative rock outfit named The Hiders, and quickly began playing all over Orange County and Los Angeles. The Hiders shared the stage with Slash's Snakepit, Everclear, Common Sense, reggae giants Wailing Souls and Eek-a-Mouse, and Dishwalla just to name a few.

After graduating high school Micah left the band to move to Hollywood to attend the world famous Musicians Institute (GIT Program). During his time at this music school he studied all facets of music including music theory, ear training, live performance, song writing, improvisation, and reading. Micah graduated in 2002 and in August of that year began teaching guitar lessons and bass lessons at the Music Stand.

Teaching students how to learn guitar and bass is as much of a joy for Micah as performing, as he loves seeing new players develop their own passion for music.

Micah has done studio work and performed with members of Saosin(Capitol Records), Head Automatica (Warner Bros. Records), Yer Mom (CleanBox Records), Cheva( Embryo Records), The GreatestCoverBandEver, and is a regular member of Marc Seal's touring band, who have played with the likes of Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Joe Walsh, and other guitar greats. Micah specializes in guitar lessons and bass lessons for beginners through advanced students and tailors each lesson to the students specific musical tastes.
