Item Description

Howard Shore is among today’s most respected, honored, and active composers and music conductors (and he is a current TPS grandparent!). His work with Peter Jackson on The Lord of the Rings trilogy stands as his most towering achievement to date, earning him three Academy Awards.

This signed Lord of the Rings score page is from The Return of the King:  "Minas Tirith." It is an A3 size page (approximately 11"x17").

Howard Shore's Academy Award-winning score for The Lord of the Rings has been hailed as among the greatest film music ever written. Sweeping in scope, it is an interpretation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth as music --- an operatic tapestry of cultures, histories, languages, and principles.

In addition to three Academy Awards for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Mr. Shore has also won three Golden Globe Awards and four Grammy Awards.

Shore received the Career Achievement for Music Composition Award from the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures, New York Chapter’s Recording Academy Honors, ASCAP’s Henry Mancini Award, the Frederick Loewe Award and the Max Steiner Award from the city of Vienna. He holds honorary doctorates from Berklee College of Music and York University, he is an Officier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la France and the recipient of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award in Canada.
