Item Description

Since 2006, the Art Farm has welcomed elementary and middle school students to our private 10-acre woodland property in North Coastal San Diego County to enjoy a unique week-long day summer camp experience. We offer students an outstanding immersion experience that starts with crossing a wood bridge  traversing our creek, leading into a hidden gem of a property in the heart of Carlsbad.

All art classes are held in our outdoors classrooms, where students are based according to their grade level. Middle school students work in an area separate from the younger students. Each group works with a dedicated and experienced artist/instructor. Mornings are spent learning new techniques and skills in drawing and painting. Afternoons are spent on other projects, working with animals, exploring the creek and so much more.

Our studio art approach uses live animal models as well as the woodland habitat to introduce students to visual art making using a variety of traditional media while at the same time encouraging youth to appreciate the riparian habitat and animal life they encounter during their time at Art Farm. By week’s end, students know all the farm animals by name and feel a true connection to them through the making of art.

We also keep it fun. After all, this is summer camp! This blend of quality instruction and fun is apparently a winning combination. Art Farm has twice won the Red Tricycle Award for “Most Awesome Camp for Kids in Southern California”, and for good reason. We truly are awesome.
