Mark and Eadie Weaver opened Active Endeavors in a 900 square foot store on S. Linn Street in 1986. Our goal then and now is to bring the mountain culture to Iowa. We have always strived to represent the best of outdoor and casual lifestyle apparel, footwear and equipment. Busting at the seams, Active Endeavors relocated to our 8,000 square foot location at 138 S. Clinton Street in 1988. A new face and more space meant we could offer the latest and most up to date products available as they changed and evolved in material, technology and fashion. Some of the historical highlights include:
-Patagonia developed fleece and then recycled fleece
-The development of synthetic underwear
-The rebirth of merino wool in socks and apparel
-Backpacks changed from external frames to internal
-Premium denim dominates fashion
-Patagonia led the way to organic cotton with other companies to follow
-You can now carry the world on your wrist with GPS systems
-Hiking boots evolved into lighter, more comfortable footwear
The list goes on and we continue to monitor developments not only in the outdoor industry, but also in the fashion world as well. We are dedicated to finding the newest and best products available from innovative and reliable companies and bringing them to you. In addition, we boast of a hardworking, well trained and knowledgeable staff. We will go out of our way to find that perfect jacket, custom fit your shoes and order your favorite color and we pledge to continue that personal customer service.
