Item Description

The winning bidder will receive each month for one year, a five pound supply of Nicaragua’s finest coffee from the Santa Fe Coffee Estate, located in the Jinotega Province, Nicaragua.

Santa Fe Estate’s special microclimate is conducive to growing some of the finest shade grown Arabica coffee found in Nicaragua. They are committed to producing a consistent coffee of unparalleled flavor; a creamy, chocolaty, and smooth cup, unique to the growing region in Jinotega Province, Nicaragua.

Arabica Varietals: Caturra (50%), Catuai, (15%), Java Nica (15%) Pacamara (15%). Each variety is processed separately.

Item Special Note

Santa Fe estate coffee is dry mill processed. Their coffee is sun-dried and drum-dried for consistency and quality. It is then cooled and put in storage for aging for up to six months to obtain a more complex "cup." The next step in the process includes using dehuskers, sieves, blowers, density tables, Xeltron, and hand sorting to grade the coffees. Throughout the drying and grading process, the coffees are marked with the lot number that was assigned upon its arrival, maintaining complete traceability.

The Santa Fe coffee cupper evaluates the coffee from each lot, assuring the best quality as it is prepared for export. The cupping lab employs blind cupping techniques, and all coffees are evaluated according to cup quality only.

Their vertical integration strategy is to roast the coffee from their Santa Fe Estate at their roasting plant, the Gourmet Coffee Bean LLC, in Denver, Colorado. The roaster is a Vittoria VTR-60, double-drum convection system with a capacity to roast 1,000 pounds of green coffee per hour.
