Item Description
Ride in a clinic with Eugene Abello at Jeannette Bair's beautiful Final Decision Farm, in Woodbine, MD. Eugene began his riding career as a hunter/jumper rider until he moved to Germany in order to attend Graduate School in the 1970’s. While in Germany he was influenced by the exposure he had to dressage and turned his training and instructing sights to Dressage. Eugene did his early dressage training with Karl Mokolka and considers him to be the greatest influence in his own learning and to his current approach to dressage training. Eugene has continued his education with Hewig Radnetter, Charles DeKunffy, and Elizabet Lundholm, former member of the FEI Dressage Committee and Chef D’ Equipe for the Swedish Dressage Team.
Eugene’s approach to dressage training is in the tradition of classical style focusing on maximizing the horse’s comfort during training while still influencing the horse to utilize its athleticism to greatest advantage and the full beauty of its movement. With his riders, he pays great attention to proper position of rider to gain a true partnership with their horse and a communication which gains as much as that horse and rider combination might be able to achieve.
Eugene teaches all. He has no prejudices other than he desires to work with individuals who want to learn. He teaches with great enthusiasm, riders at any level, horses at any level and horses of any breed with no difference in approach or attention to horse and rider. Although he is quite willing to work with riders who may not want to be in the show arena, he does work toward and has gained great success at putting dressage riders into the FEI arena. He has accomplished this both with pure dressage riders as well as with eventers who have been able to use their dressage to gain leverage to win in their events as well as to do well in recognized dressage competitions.
