Item Description
Beth Collier donated two guest passes for a tour of the house, gardens and nature trails of Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton, MD (30 minutes north of Baltimore). Named one of "10 incredible topiary gardens around the world" by Architectural Digest. Called "The most outstanding topiary garden in America" by the Garden Club of America. One of the "Top 5 North American Gardens Worth Traveling For" Award by the Canadian Garden Tourism Council .
Few more colorful figures embellish American cultural history than the late Harvey S. Ladew (1887-1976). As traveler, artist, foxhunter and creator of an extraordinary garden, Ladew filled the nearly 90 years of his life richly, creatively, and above all, with great wit. The house has an equestrian theme. The stable is now used as a café. 22 acres of gardens are a delightful inspiration and include a topiary huntsman and hounds chasing a fox.
