Item Description

Mr. Smith will be hosting Summer Band Camps at his home in Leucadia. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. The children will learn songs to perform at a Friday afternoon concert. The repertory depends upon the students who enroll. Every camp is different, tailored to the abilities of the band of the week. Students will have a chance to try different instruments: drums, guitars, ukuleles, harmonicas, keyboards, accordion, noise makers, shakers, and of course the most precious instrument of all: their own voice.

Past camps have included original compositions from the students; cover songs by sundry artists like the Beatles, Blondie, Taylor Swift and Johnny Cash; rhythmic exercises designed to help the band form as an ensemble; and lessons in basic music theory. The students are charged with the task of creating an image for their band, including a band name, publicity posters and a “look” for the performance.
