Item Description
Everything old is new again! Hand-cut silhouettes, a nearly lost art form popular in the 1800s, have made a comeback in the 21st century. Only a handful of of artists in the world still practice this precious artwork today in its original, purest form.
The lucky winner will receive a portrait handcrafted by Sumner School Parent Meg Vulliez based on a photograph that he or she supplies. Portraits can be made of children, adults, or even pets.
A silhouette of the subject is cut from black cardstock and mounted on colored background paper (light blue, dark blue, light pink, dark pink, white, or off-white). The portrait is matted and mounted under glass in a black frame, with a wire suitable for wall hanging. Framed dimensions are approximately 9 x 11".
Item Special Note
The winner of this item will need to provide a digital photograph (.jpg) of the subject in profile on neutral background. Please include shoulders and all of the head. If possible, facial expression should be relaxed, and the mouth closed. Try to avoid having the subject’s body turned at an angle. Please consider how you want to style longer hair - pig tails and braids sometimes do not render well in silhouette because they blend into the neck and torso of the subject.
