Item Description

"The Croppy Boy" Framed Print - The Welsh photographer, Joy Manor, has had an intimate relationship with boats her whole life.   Ms. Manor's, New York Harbor Triptych was featured by Operation Sail 2000 in New York City.

The " Croppy Boy" image is part of her "Going Places, Photo Visions" series.  This image was taken in Howth outside of Dublin in l987.

This image is symbolic of The Irish Rebellion of 1798.  The Irish, emboldened by the French Rebellion attempted their own uprising for freedom from British control.  The Irish uprising was named The Croppy Boy Rebellion after The French rebels who had cropped their hair as a statement of their protest and rising.
