Bulgarian conductor Danail Rachev, Music Director of the Eugene Symphony, leads the Las Vegas Philharmonic’s premiere performance of Brahms’ First Symphony, a work that was to reinforce the public’s high opinion of the composer as successor to Beethoven. The program opens with the spirited overture from Weber’s Oberon and powerful German pianist Markus Groh performs Beethoven’s complex and compelling Fourth Piano Concerto.

Each season the Las Vegas Philharmonic showcases the talents of an internationally rising star. Acclaimed for her passionate performances, and compelling command of her instrument, violinist Bella Hristova will perform Max Bruch’s romantic First Violin Concerto. A young musician with a growing career as a soloist and recording artist, The Strad has praised, “Every sound she draws is superb.” Rei Hotoda, who conducted our 2014 Youth Concert Series mwith verve and vivacity, returns to conduct the program which also features Maurice Ravel’s delightful Mother Goose Suite and Antonin DvoÅA?ák’s evocative Eighth Symphony.

Music Director Donato Cabrera leads the orchestra in its first-ever performance of Mendelssohn’s joyous Fourth Symphony, known as the “Italian” symphony having been inspired by the composer’s travel south to Italy. Schubert’s charming Overture to Rosamunde opens the program and gold medal winner of the 2007 International Tchaikovsky Competition, Sergey Antonov, hailed as a “brilliant cellist” by Mstislav Rostropovich, performs Schumann’s lyrical Cello Concerto.

Music Director Donato Cabrera completes his first Masterworks Series with a program featuring composers over a one hundred-year span including the stunning keyboard showcase of Rachmaninoff’s 24 variations based on Paganini’s Caprices for violin to be performed by thrilling young pianist Joyce Yang. Iconic American composer John Adams’, The Chairman Dances, a “foxtrot for orchestra” opens the program and the series closes in stunning style with Tchaikovsky’s lush Fifth Symphony.
