Laura Peterson Choreography is a New York City based dance company creating highly physical evening length dances with built-in performance environments. Laura’s work is deeply influenced by visual art of the 1970’s, particularly geometric painting, installation and Earthwork. She frequently employs repetition, iteration and mathematical patterns as a means to expand her concepts. Each dance is an environment, a concept, a performance- highly refined and rigorously researched.
Laura’s dances have been presented by The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival (Inside Out), Lincoln Center (Out-Of-Doors) and at venues throughout NYC, and in Europe and South America. She has created works Hartford Ballet and Pennsylvania Ballet and has taught at Princeton, Rutgers and Marymount Manhattan College. Laura was a member of the HERE Artist Residency Program from 2009-2011 where her workWooden was developed and first presented. She continues to be part of the HERE community in as many ways as she can.
