Item Description
For over a hundred years, BrahmsA?s final opus, the beautiful Eleven Chorale Preludes for Organ (Op. 122), has inspired both admiration and curiosity. George Bozarth, Barbara Owen, and other musicologists have opined that Brahms actually intended Fourteen Chorale Preludes, divided into two groups of seven. Leonardo Ciampa reordered the chorales, added the prelude and fugue on O Traurigkeit (which Brahms may have intended to include in the set), and composed a canonic treatment of Es ist ein Ros', based on a sketch by Brahms.
