Item Description
The late Bene Hammel recorded "A Festival of Hymns" with the 100-voice Westminster Chapel Choir directed by Dan Foster. He played the chapel's three-manual Rodgers organs with 15 ranks of Rodgers pipes to supplement the specification. This phonographic recording includes 10 tracks.
Item Special Note
All but two of the hymn settings were improvised by the organist during the five-hour recording session, including a haunting version of "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence" from the Liturgy of St. James.
