Sol Food Puerto Rican Cuisine, San Rafael
Dinner for up to Forty Guests at Your Home
If you go to Yelp, Urban Spoon or other online restaurant review sites, you will consistently find the following reviews of Sol Food: “Everything I've tried is delicious, on-point, and cooked to perfection”, “This place is seriously, seriously, seriously good”, “It’s one of the best gems of Marin”.
Owner Marisol Hernandez began by selling her food at San Rafael’s Farmers Market in 2003. She opened her first restaurant in 2004, and, although it was tiny, the location thrived. By 2007, an additional location opened with the ability to seat forty-nine people, with a frequent line that continues to form on the sidewalk. In 2010 an additional location was opened. Even those who "hate waiting" "will wait" in the sometimes block-long lines.
Sol has a passion for her Puerto Rican culture and a love of food, evidenced by the quality of each item on the menu. Sol Food is incredibly fresh Puerto Rican Food with unique and delicious flavor combos, and is also known for their homemade sauces. There are many gluten-free choices on the menu and vegan dishes are also available.
In 2009, Sol Food Restaurant was featured on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” on the Food Network, in an episode called "Go-To Joints.". The sweet plantains in the Pastelon de Carne tantalized Guy, while the "nice and tender" beef in the bistec sandwich sent him over the edge. Locals also enjoy the Pollo al Horno made with free-range chicken.
Good news – no lines! Sol Food Restaurant will bring dinner for up to forty people to your home or venue. Included is food, buffet or family style service, and bar service on request. Alcohol and any rental equipment are not included. Dinner date and menu must be confirmed by catering Manager. Holidays are excluded.
Venue must be within the San Francisco Bay Area.
