Item Description
Ever dream of owning a racehorse? Here's your chance to get a taste of it and support a worthy cause!
Participate in a Thoroughbred ownership experience with a 3% interest in Moondance Joy, a Tom Albertrani trained 2-year-old New York-bred Thoroughbred filly donated and managed by West Point Thoroughbreds, the Gold Standard in Racing Partnerships. West Point Thoroughbreds purchased and campaigns Commanding Curve, the runner-up in this year's Kentucky Derby.
Moondance Joy is projected to begin her career at the Saratoga meet. It’s a great time to have a nice New York-bred horse. The 2014 New York racing schedule features a total of 69 New York-bred stakes races worth $8.6 million. Headlining the schedule are five new races for 2-year-olds to be hosted by NYRA, bringing the total number of stakes races for New York-bred 2-year-olds in the state to 19 with total purses of $2,650,000.
It seemed like every NY-based buyer was in the area when this filly walked into the ring. There was buzz about her all week at the Ocala Breeders April Sale, deservedly so as she worked the fastest eighth of a mile of her session, and showed extremely well back at the barns all week. She’s a May foal who still has room to grow and develop, and she still breezed lights out. Terry Finley, founder and owner of West Point Thoroughbreds, went into the ring knowing he wanted to leave with this filly and it felt like every major NY buyer was in there with him. “We had to stretch to get her, but think she’s worth it!” For more information about Moondance Joy, including lineage, data and videos see her West Point Thoroughbreds roster listing.
The experience also includes assistance with race day accommodations, access to private side of website for horse communications, access to paddock, backstretch and (hopefully) winner's circle, invitations to Partner events, virtually everything a Partner would receive at West Point Thoroughbreds except maintenance bills and a K-1. The winner is eligible for net purse distributions, if any, after expenses and is not responsible for any capital calls associated with maintaining the horse, but will receive a 1099 for any racetrack earnings distributions made during the horse's racing career, excluding sales proceeds.
