Hidden away in the high desert of east central Nevada is a time capsule like no other, the Nevada Northern Railway National Historic Landmark. Annually during the second and third weekends in February, time travel is possible. Come to Ely Nevada, set your watch back a century, and photograph railroading as it was in the last century.
The Nevada Northern Railway is not a mishmash of equipment from different railroads or different countries, nor is the equipment prettified or garish.
This is the original railroad equipment in the original paint schemes in the original settings. All of this equipment has been on the property for decades and in a couple of cases more than a century. All of it still operating on the original track that was graded and laid a century ago.
Win, and you have the opportunity to photograph railroading as it was in the last century over 2 ½ days!
It is more than just trains, it’s the buildings and the people too! Annually, award winning photographs are taken during the photo shots, will yours be the next award wining photo?

The successful bidder will need to make a reservation upon the conclusion of the auction. Winning bidders will have from 2015-2016 to do the photo shoot that they won at the auction. Participants must be 16 years or older. Call (775) 289-2085 if you have questions. Thanks and good luck!
Ely has no air service. It is recommended that you fly in to Las Vegas and then drive to Ely. Air fares are usually cheaper than into Salt Lake City. Also, if a winter storm should hit, you will only have 60 miles to drive through snow, rather than 240 miles from Salt Lake City. Ely is 240 miles from either Las Vegas or Salt Lake City.
