The American Locomotive Company (ALCO) had a proud legacy of building locomotives for Ameica’s Railroads. ALCO built over 1,500 RS-3s and RS-2s, today very few are still in operation. Meanwhile the upstart General Motor’s Electro-Motive Division was building elbowing itself into the locomotive field. One of their offerings was the Special Duty – 9 (SD-9)
So what’s better an ALCO or a EMD? Four-cycle versus two-cycle? It’s been claimed that an ALCO is an honorary steam locomotive, win this package and you’ll see why.

Item Special Note
The successful bidder will need to make a reservation upon the conclusion of the auction. Winning bidders will have from 2014-2015 to do the experience that they won at the auction. Be the Engineer participants must be 18 years or older with a valid drivers license. To Be the Engineer requires successfully passing a short training and safety course. Two people can share the experience.
It is recommended that you plan on spending two days to do this experience.
