Item Description

Sophisticated and edgy, this chair would suit any contemporary decor. Eclectic in its mix of materials combined with a perfect punch of red, this chaise is a true statement piece!

ARTIST STATEMENT/INFLUENCE:
I loved this chair the moment I saw it. So I knew from the beginning, I would have to pay homage to its original materials, craftsmanship, and lovely lines. What I wanted after that was to do something totally unexpected for a "church chair" -- something playful and experimental for me.

I have always loved collage and I have a passion for pattern and interesting graphics. So I began thumbing through design magazines and ripping out interesting patterns. When my office table was eventually buried with colorful scraps, I then began the editing process.

Truthfully, I think the color pallet evolved out of an idea I had for a lobby I am designing. Red is a new, scary color for me, but it gives my beloved grey scale spectrum a good punch- and yes, I decided to do the lobby in white, black, grey - and splashes of RED.

The bird on the bottom of the seat?  Well...I just love the shape of birds and what the shape evokes...
