Item Description
"I was born into a firm Europe family of Swiss and German descent," artist and chef Bruno Ingold says. "They were very strict in their teaching of old world history, art and traditions. I became very interested in Arts since my early childhood. Growing up in upper Michigan, with very little to do, painting, sculpture and music were my salvation. I continued my creative outlet in the old style. My medium now is mostly oil painting on canvas. My paintings are very symbolic and somewhat surreal. My love of artistic expression drove me into a culinary career, which I have been in for approximately 20 years. I had some great opportunties working in a number of states and very prominent hotels. I chose the Green Man motif because it has many variations found in many cultures around the world. The Green Man ties in with the culinary world as it is often related to: natural vegetation, changing of seasons, the symbol of rebirth, the cycle of life and the changing mind of mankind. I want to thank Tom and Diane Coohill (owners of Coohill's, a French influence restaurant in Denver, where I am chef). They have asked me to push my creative outlet for this very cherished charity event. I have never published or sold any of my art, which is substantial. I have not felt that the public would understand my symbolism. I truly hope that everyone embraces this piece as it is an important symbol of the cycle of life."
This mask is entitled: "The Green Man"
