Item Description

The seasoned beauty of this piece is undeniable.  Enhanced with independent art works representing transformation, the trimmings appear as though they were integral elements of the chair's intial design. Once only utilitarian, it is now remarkable.

ARTIST STATEMENT/INFLUENCE:

I chose to paint moths because of their transformative attributes which related to the children of Friendship childcare center.  I also was drawn to the chair's weathered and memory-laden appearance, and felt the wood burned/stained moths played off this aesthetic.  Further, the chair itself has gone through a transformation with this project; keeping original elements of its past while morphing into its more complex and beautiful present.
