Item Description

The "Pride of Baltimore" was originally built as a replica of a 19th century Baltimore Schooner.  This topsail schooner was launched in 1977 and sailed over 150,000 nautical miles around the world.  During her nine years of service, she visited ports along the Eastern seaboard from Newfoundland to the Florida Keys, the Great Lakes, the Caribbean and the West Coast from Mexico to British Columbia.  She also visited many European ports.

The Pride visited Port Hueneme, California in 1983.  At that time, the model creator, after seeing the ship, decided to build a replica.

In May 1986, she was caught in a storm in the South Atlantic and sunk.  In that storm, she lost four of her twelve crew members.

A sailing ship is one of the most beautiful things man has made.  Anyone fortunate enough to have seen a fully rigged vessel cutting the waves would agree.

Item Special Note

The model is 35 1/2 inches long and built on a scale of 7/32 inches.  The frames are closely spaced as in actual ship construction to allow for strength in the hull and a smooth surface for planking.  The frames are made of basswood and the deck is covered in cherry.

Shipping costs, if shipping is required, are not included in the overall cost of the item.
