Item Description

NVD Sauvignon Blanc, NVD Cabernet and 2010 Estate Syrah

Arkenstone Estate Winery: Established in the late 1980’s, Arkenstone rises from 1400 ft. to 1650 ft. of elevation on the Western shoulder of Howell Mountain in the Napa Valley. Overlooking the Valley and St. Helena to the South and Bell Canyon to the North, our vineyards consist of 22 separate blocks. They are planted primarily to traditional Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, Malbec, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and one small block of Syrah.  Our unique Howell Mountain terroir along with careful vineyard oversight, results in healthy, mature vines with consistent characteristics that lead to full, balanced and distinctive wines. Arkenstone is a true Domain. 14 acres of planted vineyard, extensive state-of-the-art underground winery caves as well as our tasting room overlooking the vineyards, are all situated within the Arkenstone Estate.

Winemaking: The Arkenstone winemaking philosophy is based upon consistency and elegance, which is achieved through intense organic farming practices, where extremely low yielding vineyard blocks are able to uniformly, mature grapes to perfect ripeness. Winemaker, Sam Kaplan, strives for balanced, elegant wines, which are approachable upon release, yet have all of the components to assure age ability.

2010 ARKENSTONE ESTATE SYRAH

Tasting Notes

This deep purple, garnet rimmed Syrah is luscious! The nose gives up a fusion of graphite, toasty bacon fat, tobacco and dark earth along side blueberries, lavender and candied cherries.   Orange blossom, Strawberry/rhubarb cobbler and lush blueberry in the very rounded, full mid-palate moves on to a very long, balanced finish of unctuous black current, cherry wood, rich dried strawberries and a hint of white pepper. Although gorgeous upon release, this beauty will age for years to come and will benefit from decanting early on.

22 months in French Oak and 16 months in bottle before release.

2010 NVD Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

A rich garnet core with a blood red rim invites you in to this classic cabernet as aromas of ripe black cherries, lavender, sweet tobacco and a bit of crème brulée and lemon curd greet the nose.   Juicy red cranberries and raspberries on the front move to cherry pie, dusty rose, ripe fig and coffee beans in the mid-palate. Vibrant acidity and elegant tannins greet lush blueberry, cherry, and a touch of baking spice on the long and classic Cabernet finish. The mountain cabernet structure promises a wine that will reward extended cellaring; decanting reveals a delicious glimpse of its future.

22 months in French Oak and 16 months in bottle before release.

2012 ARKENSTONE NVD SAUVIGNON BLANC

TASTING NOTES

Pale gold with a silver rim, this well structured Sauvignon Blanc shines. Kiwi, green apple, pineapple and wet stone aromatics on the nose invite you in to the complexity to come. Greeting the palate with more green apple, star jasmine, Bartlett pear, white peach and key lime, the flavors then move into mango, papaya, honeydew melon and a hint of lemon pith in the mid palate. The soft round mouthfeel is balanced with clean acidity and minerality, and the long, layered finish revisits the green apple, pear and peach notes.

Fermented and aged sur lies in a combination of French Oak and Concrete Egg for 1 year. Bottle aged for 11 months before release.
