Item Description

What You Learn The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

• Knowledge Development (online or home study which include some book work and written exams to understand basic principles of scuba diving

• Confined Water Dives (aka pool training sessions) to learn basic in-water scuba skills

• Open Water Dives (may be done locally or if pre-arranged may be in FL at the instructors discretion) to review your skills and explore! There aren't many requirements for taking a certification course. • Basically you should be in good physical shape and be comfortable in the water. A clearance from your doctor would be a good idea if you have any doubts or medical issues

As far as age requirements, for PADI you must be 10 or older to take the course. Students younger than 15 will receive the PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification. It can then be upgraded to PADI Open Water Diver certification upon reaching 15.

• Required equipment is SCUBA-quality Mask, Snorkel, fins and booties (an exposure suit may also be needed, but not required)

• Where is the location in Atlanta: Metro Atlanta area - This includes an 11 county area around Atlanta and can also be negotiated with the instructor.

• Is there a set class date for the lessons? The winning bidder and donor will reach a mutually agreeable date for the knowledge review phase of the training; however the instructor is available during the workbook learning/home-study phase.

There are no set classes, this is for the “home-study” option; the donation does not include the PADI Online course or the classroom session; these are options for knowledge delivery in the PADI training system. The PADI Open Water training system is designed to be as flexible for the students as possible, however this donations is limited to the home-study option only and the student(s) must be local to or be able to come to the Metro Atlanta area for the confined water sessions and the open water session travel must be prearrange.

Online 2. Classroom or 3.Home-study. Knowledge development will be provided with the home-study option only via the PADI Open Water Diver workbook. This donation only includes the home-study option. This better allows the student to go at their own study pace. You will have phone, text, and/or email access to the instructor for any and all questions or assistance during the home-study. Once the student(s) completes the workbook, they will meet with the instructor in person in the Atlanta area and review what they have studied in the five knowledge sections and take a short quiz to be sure everyone is getting the knowledge information.

Also, the instructor will show the many types of scuba equipment and help you choose gear that best matches your preference and fit. While typically, some of the scuba gear you need for training is provided for at least a portion of the course, it's a good idea to invest in your own scuba diving equipment. Doing so will give you a chance to get to know your own personal scuba gear, and become comfortable with how it works.
