Hi Bidders! My Name is John Ruggieri I have been with AT&T/Cingular Wireless here in Atlanta for 12+ years but I have been windsurfing for 24 years! First off, WindSurfing is the GREATEST SPORT EVER. It's fairly easy to get the basics down, but the learning curve goes on forever (and that's a good thing.) You don't have to be a super athlete, or in the greatest shape, but like any sport, conditioning helps. While Lake Lanier is not the greatest place to WindSurf, it's difinately do-able, and it can be alot of FUN.
LESSONS are highly recommended. While learning to windsurf is fairly easy, trying to figure out how to windsurf on your own is not. What will you learn on your experience you ask? We will do our level best to cover the following:
o The names of the gear and sailing speak. Things like Port & Starboard
o How to setup and carry your gear
o The 5 five positions to getting up and getting under way
o Spend 20 -- 30 min. on a simulator in a small group as the first portion of your lesson
o Take your new simulator skills directly to the water and begin implementing by sailing with me.
o Learn how to sail upwind and hit your target o Make 180 degree (half circle) turns
o Tack -- efficiently (Turn with power upwind)
o Spend 20-30 min. on the simulator developing your stance and downwind turns
o How to drive the board upwind to weather with foot steering to maximize your reach
o How to turn downwind without power in a downwind 180 degree turn
o How to turn downwind with power thus performing a longboard jibe
o Learn how to sail to ALL points of sailing direction
o Plus FREE SAILING time
Item Special Note
You will need to show up @ Vans Tavern Park on the East side of Lake Lanier with a bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, plenty of water, snacks, and the realization you will get far in the water repeatedly ;-) Time and date will be arranged according to your schedule, my schedule, and the weather.
