Painted Furniture
Cat/Mouse Bench with Secret Compartment by Ariana Stokes
- Item Number
- 52
Item Description
This amazing piece of furniture was obviously hand-crafted long ago. When the need for it was gone, it was discarded in the yard, and became feral. An IAR volunteer rescued it, saw its promise, and found an artist to 'foster' it.
That foster/artist was Ariana Stokes, and she did amazing things with it, as you can see. Suggested use: on a porch/deck or in a cat room, though it would be a shame to waste that design.
If you have children instead of cats (!), it could be used as a toy box.
This bench is currently on display at Phydeaux (Chapel Hill). Mimi the bulldog is keeping it company.
Item Special Note
This is Ariana Stokes' first year of participation in the Auction. We can't wait to see what she does next year!
Emily Weinstein was the rescuer of this piece that 'needed a home.' She also did substantial work on it.
