“After many years of creating stained glass art, I found I had a tremendous amount of scrap glass that I could not bring myself to throw out. Because I do not like to waste anything (I also have many “found objects”), I decided to try creating with mosaics. I love “repurposing” and using objects in ways other than what they were designed for, and at the same time, putting less into landfills. I can find a use for just about anything.
After working in biomedical research and business management, I am now devoting all my time to creating and teaching mosaics. I have an active studio practice, with an open schedule. My workshops and classes focus both on art and technique, utilizing natural and man-made materials. I teach mostly adults, and my favorite class is one of young adults with various challenges (autism, CP, Downs Syndrome)
Working closely with clients, I also design and create unique pieces of art to enhance homes, offices and outdoor spaces. Many are individualized and given as gifts. Some examples are guitars, mailboxes, pet memory stones, baby gift frames, new-home gifts and personalized mosaic gift “collages”.
‘Echinacea in Orange’ reflects my love of flowers. The “bowl” is a discarded piece of pottery, and the tiles on the bottom were left over from a friend’s bathroom redo.”
