When I began making mosaics about 15 years ago, I made mostly grouted pieces using stained glass.  It always had to be functional, e.g. a table, a pot, a switch plate cover, a tray.  I have since discovered that a mosaic doesn’t have to have any other use but to be a piece of art.  That revelation has given me the freedom to use a vast variety of materials and techniques to convey what is in my head.  It is so much fun to find (and to buy) just the right piece to go next to that other right piece.  Creating mosaics has saved me at times and I will be forever grateful.”
