Item Description

Quilt Provenance titled “Catch a Falling Star” for Saving Grace: A Night of Hope, Preeclampsia Foundation, 2014; with handmade quilt rack.

This gorgeous quilt was created in memory of Grace Ann Nolan, the inspiration for the Saving Grace ~ A Night of Hope Gala.

This quilt is approximately 90" x 74" and fits best on a twin or full size bed.  It is primarily cream and cobalt blue covered in stars of blue and silver shimmer.  It includes a pocket sewn on the front to catch the 'falling' stars which were all hand-stitched by Celeste Henly.

The quilt was designed and assembled by Celeste Henly of Sugar Camp, Wis. and was machine quilted by Karen Kuphal of Eagle River, Wis.

The quilt rack was made by Daniel Henly.  Here are his comments: "I selected Black Walnut for this Quilt Rack for the interesting patterns in the grain.  It is lovingly finished with hand-rubbed oil to give depth and gloss to this gorgeous wood.  It holds three quilts, and is two inches deeper than many racks and all joints are reinforced for strength - in order to give it stability.  The winner of this piece will enjoy it for many, many years."

QUILT PROVENANCE: Every quilt has a story, but most often it is not recorded. The story may be simple, it may be long and complicated, but if it is recorded, at least in part on the quilt label, the meaning and sentimental value of the quilt will be greatly enhanced. Owners of even the most basic quilts deserve to know something about the quilt…. it will make them appreciate the quilt if they know something of how it came into being.  Including a dedication or story with a quilt categorizes it as a quilt provenance.
