"My sisters accuse me of having enough Scrabble tiles to write a novel. I don't, but almost!
I am a finder, a collector, a bricoleur. Each of my artistic journeys begins with the hunt. I can be found most weekends haunting yard sales, imagining new lives for the dusty treasures I discover.
I am passionate about creating my artworks using entirely salvaged and found materials (aside from adhesive and grout). My creative process begins with those discarded items. I am inspired by the challenge of transforming these neglected objects into meaningful works of art.
While I have been repurposing for many years and have a great fondness for the color, texture, and history of rusty materials, I discovered a special kinship with glass as soon as I began working with it. I became fascinated with light refraction, particularly as it is revealed in broken tempered glass, which is featured in most of my pieces.
Having spent nearly 30 years as an adolescent and family therapist, I found the transition to mosaic art surprisingly natural. In my work as a therapist, I helped clients discover and integrate the various pieces of their lives, their histories, values, fears, joys, and goals, into a coherent whole, just as I assemble abandoned objects and fragments of tempered glass into works of mosaic art."
