"My first profession was that of a pediatric nurse, though art has always been a major part of my life. Self-taught, I worked in many different media early in my developing artistic career. I have been fortunate enough to participate in many juried exhibits and art shows, winning several awards and selling my work. I discovered in-spite of the wonderful accolades I have received; these past years were merely a precursor to finding the world of mosaics, my real creative passion.
During this 10-year journey I've realized that working in mixed media mosaics has become a serious component of my life. It's not just the end product but also the process itself. It is my mental vacation, a voyage in which I get lost in an array of colors, patterns and materials and a viable antidote to stress. It is truly a craving to which I am now addicted. When I can't get down to my studio, I feel out of sync, irritable and just plain unhappy!
Never passing on a chance to take another workshop, this obsession has granted me wonderful opportunities to further my artistic education, travel both in the United States and abroad, and meet the most amazing, talented, like-minded people.
I continue to maintain my desire to help children by actively organizing fundraisers for Make-A-Wish of Michigan and StarsGuitars, through Beaumont Hospital, which offers scholarships for children who survive cancer.
Most recently my work has been acknowledged by twice being juried into Mosaic Arts International. I've also been chosen to participate in ArtPrize 2010, 2014 and The Michigan Fine Arts Competition."
