“I began my obsession with mosaics in the late 1900’s, starting with stepping stones. I then progressed to flower pots, birdbaths, gazing balls, etc., then onto inside items, mirrors, mannequins, vases, frames using mostly broken dishes (“Pique Assiette”). Breaking things and putting them together was a great way to get out all my aggressions. Everything I looked at after this made me think – “Can I use this in a mosaic?” I’ve always loved solving puzzles, which is what I feel I am doing when creating and constructing a mosaic.

After joining The Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) I discovered there were many others enjoying my “obsession”. I began going to the annual conferences, taking workshops at the conferences and throughout the US and Europe. I now do abstract mosaics using various materials but have given up breaking dishes.”
