Item Description
Winemaker's Notes:
The grapes for the Annette’s Reserve are grown in a beautiful vineyard of sloping red loam and shale soils located in eastern Redwood Valley in Mendocino County. This 60-acre vineyard, planted to Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Carignane, abounds with head-pruned, dry-farmed old vines that produce low yields of dark, concentrated fruit. The Zinfandel provided unctuous, ripe fruit up front and spicy, menthol accents, while the Petite Sirah, at 11 percent, gave enhanced color, structure and tannins and the Carignane, also at 11 percent, brought midpalate grip and a big punch of fruit. We aged the wine for 16 months in a combination of French, American and European oak barrels.
