World-renowned Norwegian painter Sigmund Aarseth was Vesterheim's first rosemaling instructor back in 1967. He painted traditional rosemaling, decorative interiors, and most recently, landscapes. He also painted more contemporary versions of rosemaling that became known as "'Sigmaling," which you see in this wonderful auction piece.
Sigmund passed away in December 2012.
