Doyle was born in Midland, Texas in 1962. He attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, earning Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees. Doyle recognized his interest in art at an early age, but pursued a career in law until 2000. In that year, seeking to spend more time with his young son and pursue a career in art, he began to work in clay. Sculpture was an early calling and Doyle has two life-size and one monumental statue in Texas, Kentucky and Arkansas as a result.

Painting and drawing soon followed. Doyle's paintings express a love for abstract shapes, light/shadow patterns and color complements that are found in nature. His palette is limited to four colors: a red, blue, yellow and white with grays used judiciously. A limited palette provides a harmony of color in Doyle's work that might not otherwise exist.

His drawings evoke the spirit of the sitter with the simplest statement possible. Using charcoal, paper and, on occassion, pastel, the statement evoked is one that can't be obtained with color. Drawing with these simple elements is currently is favorite medium. 

For Doyle, art has always served a purpose. His hope is that his art will serve the greater good. The Kentucky Medal of Honor Memorial (2001) in Louisville and the Texas Medal of Honor Memorial (2006) in Midland serve to honor those servicemen and women who have gone above and beyond the call of duty for their country. In 2012, he inaugurated Art to Beat Cancer 2012, a one-man show that raised funds for the Loyd Patient Resource Center at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center in Louisville.

In 2013, he founded The Veritas Curat Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to the support, through Fine Art, of persistent, rigorous and single-minded research into how cancer develops in order to better treat and prevent the disease. The Foundation supports two benefits, both of which have been expanded to included nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. The sale of each painting offered through the benefits or exclusively online is matched by the Veritas Curat Foundation, thereby doubling the donation made toward finding a cure for cancer.

Doyle lives in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife Kim, son and daughter.
