Item Description

One week’s stay in a one bedroom penthouse in the Condominio Parque de las Palomas (condominium) on Calle Cristo in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.  One of the most historic places in the Western Hemisphere, the old city was founded in 1521 and many of the buildings and walls date from that period.

The apartment looks down on the Capilla San Cristo (one of the most photographed places on the island), and on the Parque de las Palomas (park of the doves.)  It has a sweeping panoramic view of the harbor, cruise ships, old airport and the mountains to the east, south and west.  You can see the sunrise over the rain forest and the sunset over the western mountains (and the Bacardi rum distillery.)

The Forteleza (Governor’s mansion) is visible nearby and is the oldest continuously occupied executive mansion in the Western Hemisphere.  The old city is seven blocks by seven blocks and has two of the most famous forts in the Caribbean.  There are fine restaurants and nightlife and nearby museums and concerts.

The apartment has one bedroom (with air-conditioning), bath, kitchen, living room, and balcony accessed by two pairs of French doors.  There is a double bed and a twin bed in the bedroom (a roll-away is available and there is a daybed/sofa in the living room).  The building has an elevator.

It is not available December 13 to 30 2014, January 25 to February 10 2015, or Feburary 16 to 18 2015. The winner should set up their week ASAP.

The highest recorded temperature in San Juan is 96, the lowest is 68.
