Sophie grew up in rural Missouri, the middle child of a professor and an artist. She has been writing stories since childhood. After a hiatus to raise two children, Sophie sold her first book in 2008. With more than a dozen novels in several genres, she’s received Anthony and RT Book Awards and been on the short list for the Edgar, Crimespree, Barry, Macavity, and Goodreads Choice Awards. Sophie writes women’s fiction, the Joe Bashir and Stella Hardesty crime series, and thrillers for young adults. She is past president of the San Francisco Romance Writers’ of America Chapter. Most Tuesdays Sophie volunteers with Rebuilding Together Oakland’s Small Repairs Crew working on the Safe At Home project.
